My shift started at 11 AM. I took an early bus so that I would have some time before I had to start. However, I just arrived in time as I had to walk part of the way: There was a guy who ran in front of the bus ater getting off, because he wanted to get his bike. The problem was that he came from behind the bus so that the bus driver couldn't see him. As the bus driver wasn't happy about that kind of behaviour, he reproved that guy. Unfortunately, the guy with the bike felt like he was treated unfairly and started a scene. He put his bike in front of the bus and refused to leave. The bus driver felt harassed and called for backup. As this seemed to be taking a while and we were rather close to Downtown, I decided to walk, which took about 20 minutes.
The first part of my shift went by pretty fast, since we had a lot of restock to do and were also quite busy. Around noon, there was a lady who triggered our door alarm. Even though there were no more security tags on the clothes she had bought, her bag seemed to be the cause of that. We finally figured that she had some lamps with metallic wires in her bag, which must have caused this weird false alarm.
My break started at 2:45 PM. My shift wasn't supposed to start again until 6 PM though. Thus, I took a bus home. I spent my break eating leftovers - a really nice salad and pancakes - while watching two episodes of 'Supernatural'.
Nevertheless, my break was over way too fast and I was quite exhausted when I started the second part of my shift. At least this time, I arrived at work without any incidents. It was extremely busy this evening. When I wasn't at the till checking customers out, I folding and sorting T-shirts nonstop, since the store was a mess. It didn't look too bad anymore when I left, though.
Back at home, I had a small night snack before going to bed, where I still read a little bit.

Two nice walks with Jakki in one day
After sleeping in this morning, I felt like eating another pancake. Thus, I used the remainder of my pancake dough to make some more pancakes. After eating three of them, I joined Katrina and Jakki on their morning (or rather noon) walk. We went to Mystic Vale, a forest right next to the university. It was really a beautiful path next to a stream. There was also a big field where dogs could walk and play off-leash. We walked around that field and picked up a few wild apples on the way. I tried mine back home - it was pretty sour but still kind of tasty.
Just when we got back to the car, we saw a deer next to a golf course. Since we were hoping to see some more deer or maybe even a fawn, we walked around the golf course. There were several pieces of outdoor exercise equipment, which we tried out. We got to see two more grown up deer but unfortunately no fawn.
On the way back home, Katrina made a short stop at the Post office so that I could send my package. Afterwards, she dropped me off at Save-on-Foods, where I bought some groceries.
Shortly after I got back home, we decided to go on another walk. This time, Margo also joined us. We went to Clover Point and walked west on the beach. It was an extremely rocky beach, which made it a bit tricky to walk. I sometimes tried to walk on the driftwood which was lying on the beach, but due to the harsh wind, it was actually a challenging balancing act. There were also several seats and caves build of driftwood and we had some fun taking pictures there. I also discovered a natural log see-saw that I tried out with Margo. Even though we didn't walk too far, it was quite challanging and very fun. Katrina had to carry Jakki part of the way, as she was exhausted from walking on the rocks and fighting the harsh wind.

Pancakes and Overboard
After doing my laundry in the morning and hanging my clothes out to dry, I decided to do some exercises for my back since it has been hurting a bit for a few days now. After that, I decided to check out the prices for sending a package to Germany. As Katrina was going to the store to buy some stuff, I joined her. On the way to the 'Thrifty Foods' supermarket, we made short stops at the Canadian Post office and UPS. The prices there were really shocking - the cheapest option to send a package was about 26 CAD with the Canadian Post and that one is supposed to take up to 3 months to arrive. Any faster option would cost more than 50 CAD, which is just crazy for a small package.
By now, I had an appetite for pancakes and thus, I started baking them as soon as I got back home. I only had time to use half of the dough I had prepared, but that was enough for my lunch. I also offered Katrina one of the pancakes and in return, she inspired me to eat my pancakes with vanilla ice cream and maple syrup. To me, this seemed like a very Canadian way of eating pancakes and it was just delicious.
After eating, I had to catch the next bus to work. I had wanted to check next weeks schedule before starting work. Consequently, I made a detour to 'Royal Garden', the store where I usually worked. Unfortunately, the shedule wasn't there yet.
Today was my first day of working in another store - 'Overboard', which was located about 3 blocks north of 'Royal Garden'. The store was rather small and offered neither a lunch room nor a water cooler. Nevertheless, it was kind of nice working there. In contrast to 'Royal Garden', we didn't have to listen to the radio 'Ocean 98.5' all day long. Intead, we could listen to several CDs or other radio channels, which was nice for a change. However, it was a very quiet day and we barely had any cutomers. As everything was quite new for me, the day flew by rather fast anyway.
My shift ended at 10 PM and I quickly made another stop at 'Royal Garden' to finally get my schedule for next week.
When I was about to catch the bus home, it started to rain again. I was really worried about my clothes that I had hung outside. Luckily, Katrina had saved them once again by bringing them inside. We still watched an episode of 'White Collar' before going to bed.

Living on a boat
I had to work at the warehouse today, which was a bit annoying. I had expected to spent the day folding shirts. Instead, I had to put prices on a lot of items and rip apart cardboard boxes.
After work, I went to visit Simone. She is currently renting a room in a boat, which is located just between Fisherman's Wharf and the Inner Harbour of Victoria. Living on the water with such an amazing view seemed pretty amazing. However, I still prefered my place, since the space on the boat was limited and it took a while to get to the busstop from the boat. In addition to that, the constant rocking of the boat due to the waves made me feel quite sleepy.
On the way home, I bought a few groceries. As I was very exhausted from work and walking to Simone's home and back, I spent the rest of the day relaxing.

Shopping spree
While eaiting breakfast this morning, Katrina joined me and we talked a bit. When looking for pictures from Bremen, she had found a picture of the 'Bremen Town Musicians' and when I told her about it, she quickly found an english version of it to read. Afterwards, we talked about fairytales in general and 'Hensel and Gretel' in particular. I wasn't sure about the beginning anymore and when I looked it up in the German wikipedia, I started telling Katrina about it - in German. I hadn't realized that I had been talking in the wrong language until Katrina pointed out that my English sounded a lot like German to her.
After that, I had to go to work for a split shift. After working for four hours, I got a 2-hour break. During that break, I went down to the harbour to see a bit of the Buskers festival. In addition to that, I got a 'Donair' for lunch. I also bought a pack of mini donots and since there were too many for me to eat, I took the rest of them to the gift store in order to share them with my coworkers.
Before my second part of the shift started, I went on a shopping spree in our shop. I ended up buying a sweater for me and a lot of souvenirs to send home.
The last three hours of my shift seemed quite exhausting as I had already been out and about all day long. Thus I was happy to get back home after my shift ended at 6 PM.
I spent the evening relaxing and watching 'White Collar' with Katrina.

Agitated goats
After my shift at the gift store, I took the bus to Beacon Hill Park. I found a nice spot in the middle of a grain field to sit and eat a snack for lunch.
I didn't have too much time to relax, though, as I had signed up for a short shift at the Beacon Hill Children's Farm. When I arrived at the farm, it was already past 4 pm and they didn't have any big tasks left for me. Consequently, I could spent the whole time in the petting area with the goats. Granted, I had to scoop up their poop, but I didn't mind that tas at all. The goats seemed to be extremelly excited but I was told that this wasn't unusual around this time of day - they were waiting anxiously to get to their barn, where they would be fed. My shift ended once again with the goat stampede.
As it was just past 5 pm, I decided to walk down to my favourite little beach. It was really nice just to sit there for a while and to watch the waves of the ocean.

Being late
This morning after breakfast, I went with Katrina to two bakeries. The first one didn't have any decent bread. Instead, you could buy a lot of tasty pastries. I decided to try a Portuguese tart. The second bakery was the one where I usually buy my bread and we ended up buying an 'Island Wheat' as well as a 'Multigrain'.
When we got back home, I cleaned the bathroom. Afterwards, Katrina gave me a few books I could read while being here. I decided on a book called 'The Wind Singer' and started reading it right away.
Before going to work for my shift this evening, I prepared a quick meal of rice and vegetables.
I was at the bus stop quite early so that I wouldn't miss my bus. However, I had to sit at the bus stop for a very long time until the bus finally showed up - it was almost 20 minutes late. In addition to that, there was a deer family on the road, which caused the bus had to stop mid-way for a short time. In the end, I was 6 minutes late, which was bad since there were only two other people working at the store and one was supposd to be on a break. I felt really bad about being late and the assistant manager wasn't too happy about it either. Furthermore, I had forgotten my water bottle at home and due to my being late, I couldn't buy anything on the way to work. Consequently, I couldn't drink anything during my 4 hour shift and on the way back home.
After this unsuccessful evening, I was glad to be able to end the day with a nice episode of 'White Collar' and some grapes.
