We don't need another hero

My day wasn't too exciting - I had to work for 4.5 hours and in addition to that I also did some laundry. I had washed my first load of laundry in the morning and hanged it outside to dry since I thought the weather would be fine. Unfortunately, it was drizzeling all day long and just when I was about to go home after work it started to really rain. Luckily, Katrina brought my clothes in for me so that they were actually amost dry when I came home.

Tonight I went to see a dance show called 'We don't need another hero'. It was some kind of independent dance and I didn't know what to expect, which was good.
When entering the auditorium, every audience member got a small rock that he or she was supposed to put anywhere on the stage. During the time before the show really started, one of the female artists dressed in white was making gymnastic moves while moving the rocks around the stage.
There were also two other female dancers and one male dancer. In the first part of the show, those three dancers offered an irritating and kind of alien performance. They were moving around the stage, interacting with each other as well as imaginary objects and moving in inhuman ways. There were times when the dancers would move almost like a puppet on a string and other times when they would crawl like animals. Sometimes it looked like they were fighting and trying to intimidate each other and sometimes there seemed to be a deep and almost erotic connection between them.
Next, the dancer in white together with a French girl took over the stage. The French girl was proclaiming that the universe as well as all of us were made of stardust and rocks while the dancer in white was translating it all into English.
The dancer in white posed the question whether truth lies in the intellect, which is the mind, or in emotions, which lie in the heart, or in intuition, which is represented by the gut. In order to answer this question, she took off all her clothes and danced around naked while being influenced by sad music (emotions), arithmetic problems (mind) and sudden switches of direction (gut).
Afterwards, she put on some black clothes and asked the audience to decide where truth lies. Everyone was supposed to come on stage and stand next to a heap of small rocks representing one of the three options. The audience was given some examples to make a better decision and when everyone had found a place (I went with the heart), people started making noises. The gut group was saying 'So...?', the heart group was saying 'Hey!' and the intellect group was making bird sounds. This went on for a few minutes until everyone went into some kind of humming noise.
Finally, people started asking each other to dance until the whole audience was dancing on stage. The song 'We don't need another hero' started to play. The whole thing was truly amazing and unexpected. I ended up dancing with another woman in the center of the stage and we were both waving our scarfs around, which was fun.
When it was over, we were all clapping and people - strangers - were hugging and thanking each other for the dance.
To sum up, the show triggered many different feelings in me, ranging from irritated and disturbed over fascinated to thoughtful and humbled. The end seemed like some kind of social experiment which conveyed feelings of belonging and wonder.
When leaving, I also took one of the small stones with me as a souvenir.

Getting home was taking some time. It was already 10:20 PM and my bus home was pretty late. In addition to that, it was overcrowded, so that getting in and out of the bus was a small challange. However, when I got home by 11 PM, I was actually the first one home - Katrina and Margot were apparently still out.
