I didn't have anything planned for today. However, even though I was still feeling ill and had a bad cough by now, I wanted to make the best of my last full day in New York.
Thus, I decided to start by checking out the Rockefeller Center - at least from the outside. It was raining today, which was actually a good thing since the air was a bit better this way. Due to the rain, the ice skating field in front of the Rockefeller Center was closed. There was still a lot going on, some reporters were asking people about their opinion on the election. I was asked twice but then couldn't participate since I was no American. I heard a woman saying to one of the reporters that she felt great about the outcome of the election. I really wondered how any sane woman could feel this way, though. Apart from that, people were apparently also already working on Christmas decorations, which looked quite nice already. Nevertheless, I didn't stay long in this area.
By now I had decided to check out the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria (Queens). I was mainly interested in this location because it had been a 'White Collar' filming location. Apart from that, the museum itself was also very interesting. You could see a lot about the making of movies, makeup and masks for the actors, film sets and the development of the necessary technology for film making. You could also try out some of the necessary editing procedures, for example adding sound and sound effects or automated dialogue replacement. I added some funny soundeffects to a scene of 'Home Alone 2' and used my voice for 'Babe' in a scene of the 'Babe' movie. I also added different background music to a scene of 'Independence Day' and prepared two very short movies out of aligned pictures.
It wasn't even 4 PM yet when I left here, so I decided to check out a few more places. I wanted to go to Roosevelt Island and since there was a sculpture park on the way, I decided to check that out first. There wasn't much to see in the sculpture park but I still liked it. The few sculptures there were weird in an interesting way and the park actually wasn't too busy. It was pretty small, though, and after a few minutes I started walking to the bridge to Roosevelt Island.
Since Roosevelt Island was actually pretty small and surrounded by water, it seemed a lot less busy and almost quiet to me. I guess if I had to chose a place to live in New York (which I really wouldn't want to), it would be here. My objective here was to ride the Roosevelt Island Tramway, which was a little gondola. In one episode of 'White Collar', Neal Caffrey had also ridden it and even jumped from one gondola to another. As the sun had just set when I boarded, I had a really nice view of New York by night from a bit higher up.
After I arrived back in Manhatten, I just went back to the hostel. Although 'just' isn't the right word here - I first had to find a subway and then transfer to another one, which was a bit confusing.
Later, I got a small spinach alfredo pizza from a nearby pizza shop for dinner, which was expensive but good. Then I spent the rest of the evening packing and taking a shower.

Thanks for sharing this....
